		<description>In the US and Canada, there are no government options for an unemployment payment. Self-employed workers don't pay EI or Unemployment Insurance. However, depending on your state/country, health care benefits may still be available.

Its much more important as a self-employed worker to manage your personal finances so that you have sufficient assets for a down period. If you don't you may have to consider other options to make it through the current economic downturn, such as tapping into your retirement savings, taking on another job or work outside of your normal scope of business, or consider a career change.</description>
